Little Swans Preschool was established in 2018 for students ages 3-5. Inquiry is at the core of the Little Swans philosophy. We believe that intrinsic curiosity is the key to learning and provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum that inspires children’s innate sense of wonder. Through play and exploration, we help our students develop social skills, gain confidence, expand thinking skills, and develop an appreciation for beauty and the creative process.
Sant Bani School students have access to 200-acres of woods, fields, trails, and streams; it is an adventurous child’s dream! Outdoor learning is a core focus of the Sant Bani School pedagogy, beginning with our youngest learners. Little Swans are immersed in school life. In addition to traveling together to the Middle Building specials classes, students participate in events such as the weekly All-School Sharing assembly, Reading Buddies, and the Halloween Parade.
Families can choose one of three weekly attendance options for their Little Swan: five days; three days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday); or two days (Tuesday, Thursday). Tuition adjusts accordingly for each option (see tuition table below).
Choosing a preschool for your child is an exciting milestone. We will help guide families and answer any questions that might arise throughout the application process, to ensure that each family is confident that they have found the right fit for their child’s preschool experience.
A Day in the Life of a Little Swan
Our day starts at 8:30 AM. A typical morning begins with free play, and might also include group projects, individual projects, story time, or other activities designed for age-appropriate developmental skills.
We take a snack break mid-morning before heading to the Middle Building for one of our weekly Specials classes, which are Musical Movement, Spanish, Art, and Library. The remainder of the morning is spent outside on our playground, running around the track and/or soccer field, or taking Nature Walks around campus.
The afternoon begins with lunch* followed by rest time. The remainder of the day is spent with free play, both inside and outside, until afternoon pick-up at 4:30 PM (Monday – Thursday; pickup is at 3:30 on Friday).
* Students must follow Sant Bani School dietary guidelines. All snacks and lunches must be vegetarian and egg-free.
Admission and Tuition
To be eligible for Little Swans, students must be 3 years old by September 30 and potty trained. All families interested in enrolling their student(s) should contact Director of Admissions Sara Nicolaisen.
Our hope is that Little Swans will continue to Sant Bani School for Kindergarten. It is important to note that Little Swans who wish to remain at SBS for Kindergarten must complete the Kindergarten application process.
